Some jokes from Ainsley

What does a snake write at the end of a letter?
"Love and Hisses!"
("Get it? A snake hisses.")
*****
What does a pig use to write letters?
A pen and oink
("Instead of ink...oink...get it?")
*****
What do roosters use to wake up at dawn?
An alarm cluck!
("Because roosters go 'cluck'. That 'clucks' me up!")
*****
How does a farmer count his cows?
With a cowculator!
*****
(These jokes are coming from this book Ainsley got for her birthday.)

Ainsley's ballet recital

Ainsley performed in her first ballet recital on Saturday. She did great! Her little face...her demeanor...her dancing...all PRECIOUS! (Another moment where Dan and I were so proud of her.)

Here are some photos from the evening~
Ainsley dressed as a fairy.

Warming up with a plie'.

Visiting with friends...anxiously awaiting her turn to dance.

A gift from her instructors.
(Her performance WAS beautiful!)

Baby shower crafts

My dear friends, William and Robin, are getting ready to have a baby boy. Griffin will be born in just a few weeks. We can't wait for him to arrive!

Last weekend, there were two baby showers for Robin and baby Griffin. One was a "church" shower and one was a "family/friends" shower. It was wonderful being with Robin...watching her open gifts and seeing so many nice things for Griffin.

I wanted to share a few of the items I made for Griffin.

This is a clock I altered for the nursery.
I took apart a clock and decorated the face using scrapbooking techniques. The theme of the nursery is "trains" so I used cute train paper that has a little boy as the engineer...with animals in the box cars. I also replaced the numbers with hearts...spelling out Griffin's name and "chugga chugga" and "choo choo".

This is a brag book I altered for Robin...to carry photos of Griffin.
I decorated the cover with striped paper and added "Griffin" with a special Bible verse.
I also made this favor for those who attended the showers.
I put a tealight in a small bag and tied it with a baby blue ribbon. I also attached a poem. In case you can't read it, it says:
"Here is a candle for you to light
once the stork has made its flight.
With the flicker of the flame
say a prayer in Griffin's name."

5

Occasionally, I will see a photo of Ainsley that will make me realize how grown up she is.
This is one of those photos.
On May 3, our Ainsley turned 5 years old.
5.years.old.
I have tears in my eyes thinking about how my precious daughter is no longer a baby...no longer a toddler...no longer a pre-schooler. She is a little girl...growing up so quickly. In a few months, she will be entering Kindergarten. Kindergarten! Where has the time gone?
She is the light of our lives and we are blessed by her in so many ways.
